There’s hope for a great harvest yet! This photograph was taken June 27, 2010, after the end of our crazy rains and before the amazing progress spurred by a few weeks of sunny weather. Finally, finally the heavy rains seem behind us.
So despite my grousing over terrible weather, you can readily see that food is growing and our lovely farmers clearly have a trick or two up their sleeves. This was one of our first significant harvests, and they have continued in comparable size since then. The full head of cauliflower was a total surprise. Our rooting through the garden had not unearthed any cauliflower at all. Clearly, we need to get a little more curious. The broccoli went to our in-laws, who share the farm expense and harvest with us, but word came back that it was lovely.
